REGISTRATION NOW OPEN FOR INTERNATIONAL SPORTS VISION ASSOCIATION’s 3rd ANNUAL CONFERENCE
NORTH ROYALTON, OH — (October 17, 2018) — — Registration is now open for the 3rd Annual International Sports Vision Association (ISVA) conference, February 7-9, 2019 at the Zermatt Utah Resort and Spa in Midway, Utah.
“About 90 million Americans of all ages avidly participate in at least one sport, according to the Sporting Good Manufacturing Association,” says ISVA president Alex Andrich, OD, FCOVD. “As participation in sports and recreational activities continues to grow, building a sports vision specialty provides optometrists with a great opportunity to better serve the needs of patients, generate increased revenue through ophthalmic and contact lens sales, and draw in new clients who are highly motivated to achieve peak athletic performance.”
“This year’s conference theme, Step up to the Plate, was designed to educate practitioners about how to build and enhance a sports vision specialty,” adds ISVA Conference Education Chair Steve Hitzeman, OD, past-Chair of the American Optometric Association’s Sports Vision Section. “Providing sports-related eye care is not limited to working with elite athletes. For some practitioners, a sports vision specialty may mean participating in a limited way, such as offering sports-specific eyewear and conducting basic sports-vision screening tests. For others, it might mean building and growing a specialty that can expand into providing detailed visual performance evaluations or testing, along with visual-performance enhancement training.”
The ISVA conference will provide up to 12 hours of continuing education (COPE approval pending) and includes both lecture style and workshop presentations, including opportunities for attendees to try various sports vision testing techniques and equipment under the guidance of experienced colleagues. Scheduled speakers include some of the leading authorities in sports vision assessment and training including Donald Teig, OD, FAAO, Daniel Laby, MD, FAAO, Amanda Nanasy, OD, and Carl Hillier, OD, FCOVD.
Register by January 7, 2019 to receive an early bird conference discount. Current and new ISVA members receive a $100 discount from the regular conference fee.
